James City County continues to be an attractive community for new residents.  The County’s population has grown from 48,102 people in 2000* to more than 60,000 in 2007 according to staff’s estimates.  Based on population forecasts, the population is anticipated to grow to 77,500 people by 2020.

With population growth comes the increased demand for services and public facilities. The County is, and will continue to be, challenged to maintain and meet the demands for:
