“The last update to James City County’s Comprehensive Plan, ‘Vision for our Future,’ was adopted in 2003, and since then, much has changed within the County.  We have faced new growth, unprecedented demands for schools, water, workforce housing and services, and a rising concern for protecting the County’s environmental and cultural resources.  These issues combined make this Plan update important for all who live or work within the County.
During the 2008 update to the Comprehensive Plan, the County will undertake a community-wide effort to address the future needs and desires of our citizens.  The Update will be a 22-month process and involves evaluating our accomplishments since 2003, reviewing our direction, and determining the tools and resources we will need to meet future community goals.  Citizen input and participation are key to a successful outcome - an outcome with a shared vision and strategy for James City County's future. Your participation is vital, and I encourage you to become involved. There will be many opportunities to get informed, stay involved, and to share your thoughts (see What do YOU think?) by contributing to the Plan online.”
